Peace is a rare and valuable thing. We are encouraged to be mindful and to meditate. Personally, I don't 'do' meditation. Doing nothing, even for a short period of time, would send me bonkers. That said, I realise that I do meditate. I first began playing with Frank'n'Stitch nearly ten years ago but didn't devote myself to it until recently, during a five week stay in hospital, I began to do Frank'n'Stitch again. It surprised me with its simplicity. So simple, in fact, that my mind was quite free to wander in a meditative fashion. Amazing. After an hour of Frank'n'Stitch, I had an object which was personal and substantial. The creation of a small pot became something else. No, you can't put water in it but you can, if you wish, 'read' it. The stitches become 'characters'. The coils become 'sentences' and I can read my life as I pass it. Soft books. Soft sculptures. Meditation with a concrete purpose. I'm currently preparing a workshop tour to teach this Frank'n'Stitch with the aim of sharing this technique and reducing the amount of fabrics in landfill. Thanks for reading. I promise I won't always write so much. In Art, (and Craft) Limerick xx

Hello. This page is all about a versatile and easy technique for building and creating soft sculpture and tactile objects. When you mix the simple techniques of sewing, basketry & coil pot (clay) building and you use recycled or reclaimed fabric it's called FRANK'N'STITCH. Or, at least, that's what I call it. Welcome to Frank'n'Stitch Designs. This page will include simple tutorials covering design and building as well as regular examples of what I'm making. Enjoy xx
