Thanks to Austbrokers Canberra the Federal Women’s Race to the Coast starts on Sunday 28 May. For the first time there’s a fabulous golf experience playing the Mollymook Golf Club Hilltop course. The prize, valued at up to $1250 includes two nights accommodation at Bannisters by the Sea. This another benefit of being a Member at Federal and we wish the best of luck to everyone who competes.

The 2017 Federal Captain’s v President’s will be played on Saturday 20 May thanks to AB & Associates. Entries are now open at the Club with Members and Guests invited to play. The 2 fields will start at 7.30am and 12.00pm with eats and drinks as part of the entry. This is a popular event, so be sure to get your entry in early. Good luck also to everyone playing in Round 1 of the Federal Seniors Championships.

Federal is hosting this year’s event and it’s great to see the interest in this year’s forum. Don’t forget the Queanbeyan Junior Open is being played on Sunday. Good luck also to all youngsters playing at the ACT School Sports trials on Monday at Fairbairn.

The Australian Boys Interstate Teams Matches were recently played at Riverside Oaks in Sydney. The ACT finished in 4th place overall, which is the best ever performance. The team included 3 Federal Juniors which is even more pleasing. The results for the three Federal Members include:- Lachie – played 6 of 7 matches and won 3, squared 1, lost 2 Brett – played 5 of 7 matches and won 1, lost 4 David – played 5 of 7 matches and won 1, lost 4 The ACT team capped arguably its greatest ever week with a crushing 5-0 win over the Northern Territory to remarkably jump clear of New South Wales and into fourth place. Only Victoria, Queensland and overall winners, Western Australia, finished higher. Players and officials in the image include: (Left to Right – Back Row). Thanks to Ashleigh Went from HerCanberra who recently tried golf for the first time. Ashleigh spent a morning with the SWinG (Supporting Women in Golf) Ladies and learned some great tips from #Federal Assistant Golf Professional, Jason Pavese – one of the best in the business. For more about Ashleigh’s experience, click on the story. If golf seems like the least interesting thing you could ever try, gather your friends and come and give it a go in a group lesson. We guarantee many laughs, a good challenge and a fun experience. Careful though, you just might find yourself wanting try it again.

Great pic sent to us last week. Les Lovell was Federal’s oldest playing Member when he resigned at the end of 2014. He turns 98 in November and we’re told his brain is still as sharp as a tack. Last week he toured around with Denis. We hope you enjoyed every moment out there Les.
