Expecting mums who are suffering from the infamous morning sickness should be aware that mouths are more exposed to gastric acid during this time. This can lead to sensitive teeth and even erosion, try not to brush your teeth to soon after being sick due to the teeth still being soft from the acid. Always use a soft bristled tooth brush, a high fluoride tooth paste and make sure to have regular dental check-ups throughout your pregnancy.
With summer around the corner, here are some tips for protecting your teeth in the warmer weather: Brush your teeth before hitting the pool, some pools have high levels of chlorine which can weaken your teeth. Stay hydrated! making sure your drinking enough water during the day to protect your teeth and gums. Don't use your teeth as a bottle opener! no seriously don't. Might be a fun party trick but this can be very damaging.
Not many will know this but; after brushing your teeth with your normal toothpaste spit out and don't rinse! by rinsing your actually removing the fluoride that was in the toothpaste that helps keep teeth strong and healthy think about it this way - would you put moisturiser on your body and then immediately go for a shower? it defeats the purpose! from now on spit out don't rinse for better oral health!
