An iconic new suburb on the edge of Kew Widely regarded as the best mixed-use development site in Melbourne, this extraordinary 16.46 hectare space enjoys almost 300 metres frontage to the iconic Yarra River and is adjacent to sweeping local parklands. Since 1919 the YarraBend site functioned as a paper mill and this beautiful slice of exclusive riverfront land was inaccessible to the public. Located just 6.5 kilometres from the city, the site, once developed, will become a new suburb of Melbourne and include supermarkets, a specialty retail hub, apartments, townhouses and traditional house blocks. Its proximity to the river will also allow development of unique riverfront townhouses and larger scale home blocks.
While many urban renewal projects revitalise undesirable parts of a city, YarraBend is exactly the opposite. It is located directly across the river from the coveted suburbs of Kew and Studley Park and at the core of the tightly-held suburb of Alphington. Surrounded by the Yarra River, parklands, golf courses, The Yarra Trail walking and cycling tracks and boat houses, it’s easy to forget you’re only a 10-minute drive to Melbourne’s CBD. Public transport is only a few hundred metres away and some of Melbourne’s best public and private schools are just 5 minutes away.
YarraBend will become a new exemplar of sustainable living with a number of key environmental initiatives which will utilize the latest in technology. Partnerships with leading sustainability and technology firms will be included. Melbourne’s arts and cultural status will be reflected at YarraBend with major arts commissions and support for local artists.
This suburb is also perfectly located to create an active and healthy lifestyle and we will supplement the area’s natural and direct access to parkland and trails with health and lifestyle hubs including gymnasium, sports facilities, spaces for yoga, wellness and meditation spaces.
