Afternoon everyone! To help celebrate Australia Day, the week starting the 23rd of January we will be having a wet play week. Outside there will be water slides and fun water games for your child/ren to play with. Please ensure your child comes to Kidscape Early Learning Centre with appropriate wet play attire including bathers, a rash vest, towel and a change of clothes. We would add that if you could name your child's belongings that would make our educator's lives much easier too! Please remember our new Sunscreen Policy - your child should come to the Centre with it already applied and if not, it should be applied at the front door sunscreen station. Whether you put it on at home or at the Centre, a stamp should be put onto your child's hand so that staff are aware. Thank you to parents who are already doing this! Also, on Monday the 23rd of January we are going to be paid a visit by a local lifeguard from GT Aquatics to speak to the Preschool and Junior Preschool children about 'Kids Alive, Do the Five' water safety program. This message is very appropriate and important for children of all ages, especially at this time of year. Staff will be programming appropriate follow up experiences to discuss this important issue further following the talk.
Wishing our families and friends a very happy new year!! Bigger and better things are on the way for 2017!! Just a reminder that we are not open tomorrow as it's a public holiday , but we will reopen Tuesday as per normal 😊
Wishing Our families and Staff a wonderful Christmas. Hope you all enjoy making some lovely memories today with loved ones. MERRY CHRISTMAS ! Ho Ho Ho !! 🎅🎄

Christmas has come early to kidscape! We have wonderful new resources for children in every room. The mud mixing table has be a huge hit! It promotes exploratory and messy play requiring children to use their senses. Please remember to dress your children in suitable clothing for childcare, because we encourage them to get messy.

At kidscape we encourage playdough experiences everyday, here some reasons why. Most people are aware that playdough develops the fine motor skills of a small child that then allows the child to hold pens and pencils correctly and to be able to do up buttons and zips. But, did you also know that the playdough helps you develop your cognitive skills, your social and emotional skills and perhaps even your language and communication skills. An educator will encourage children to share their thoughts and feelings when playing with playdough. They will ask questions such as: What have you made with the playdough? Why did you choose to make the snail, worm, piece of cake, out of playdough? While asking questions, the educator is helping the child to draw on their imagination and thinking processes to provide the answers. Other children in the group will talk about what they have made and why. Each of them is using their cognitive skills and relying on their language and communication to be understood by and to understand others. Involving children in the making of the playdough also encourages them to use their mathematical and scientific skills. Mathematical skills are prompted to measure and ensure the right amount of ingredients will be used to make the play dough. Scientific skills are developed by understanding that by mixing different items you can create a colourful and fun item prompting play, creation and learning. The process of making the play dough is often more fun than the result. Just being in the moment of kneading, moulding and shaping can be very relaxing and allow children to calm and relaxed for the days’ activities.
