Amster's Prospect Tavern Amster’s Prospect Tavern is named for Sol Amster, the founder of the Tavern and grandfather of the current owner. The Amster building was built in 1926 and operated as a grocery store until Prohibition was repealed in 1933. It is one of the oldest establishments in Bergen County and the greater New Jersey area.
Referred to by many different names in the community, “Amster’s”, “Sadie’s”, “Norm’s”, or just “The Tavern”, is a place where patrons always feel at home.

In 2001, The Patio was built and has since become one of the most popular outdoor dining facilities around. Please join us for lunch, dinner, or just for a drink... you’re always welcome at Amster’s!
