Baystate Children's Hospital
Description
Baystate Children's Hospital provides routine and advanced medical care for babies through teens in a family-centered environment. Using the most advanced newborn and pediatric medical technology, our expert doctors and other specialists draw from extensive training, research, and experience in caring for the individual needs of babies, children, and adolescents. Our child-friendly environment focuses exclusively on children and their families.
Most of our pediatric care is outpatient - at the Baystate Children’s Specialty Center. This center was designed to serve special needs of children and families. It offers exceptional pediatric care, comfort, and convenience.
We also provide specialized outpatient care for children with cancer and blood disorders in the Sadowsky Center for Children, and emergency care in the Sadowsky Family Pediatric Emergency Department.

A former patient and her mom were at Baystate Children's Hospital for a test and didn’t want to leave without visiting one of their primary nurses first. They made a special visit to the Children & Adolescents Unit just to say hello to Rachel Cowan, RN. It’s always special when our patients come back to visit! ❤️
Recently at Baystate Medical Center, a patient room was transformed by a kind and talented 13-year-old, Alicia. Alicia’s dad has been a patient on the unit for over 70 days and was admitted several times this past year. She was so inspired by her dad’s care, that she made what she calls the “Wall of Fame” with beautiful hand-drawn portraits of his caregivers. Alicia took pictures of the team members and then drew them with their name, a quote, or something about them. Each person got a special title such as, “Dr. Lauren the Likeable;” “Katy the Knowledgeable;” “Dahlia the Dazzling;” “Alex the Strong;” and “Carrie the Creative.” When her father is discharged, Alicia plans to give each team member their drawing as a gift.
We are so proud of our dedicated team! Despite the challenging weather conditions and recent snowstorm, they are always there to deliver high quality and compassionate patient care!

As the winter season begins so has the increase in cold and flu illnesses especially among children in our community. In the interest of providing a safe environment for all and minimizing the spread of such illnesses, we are initiating visitor restrictions within Baystate Children’s Hospital effective today, Thursday, Dec. 28, including: • No more than two visitors at a time • Only visitors essential for the child’s well being. • Only well visitors should come to visit • No one under the age of 12 is allowed to visit. For those who wish to connect to a hospitalized child or the family, they can call Skype or FaceTime. Child Life team members will be available to assist patients and families concerned about maintaining strong family connections. We thank you for helping us maintain the best interest of both our patients and the community.
