In case anyone is wondering what was going on this afternoon and evening on West Dominick St., there were two screenings of MOTHER! at the Capitol, a nearly sold-out event called THE BEER NEXT DOOR on both screens of the Cinema Capitol, and a free outdoor movie in the Capitol Courtyard, behind the Cinema. Earlier there were showings of MANHATTAN SHORT FESTIVAL and VICEROY'S HOUSE. Strange as it may seem, this sort of activity has become commonplace in our block.

Congratulations to the City of Rome for the award of $10,000,000, announced by Governor Cuomo at the Capitol on Thursday. This is by no means merely a stroke of good luck, it is the result of a considerable amount of hard work by Mayor Jackie Izzo and the terrific crew at City Hall. We thank them for involving us in the process and for including us in their plans for the disbursement of these funds. This was an extremely competitive process; Rome was one of 10-first place winners in the Downtown Revitalization Initiative from 104 applicants. The judges had to be convinced that downtown Rome is an outstanding investment, and the talented team at City Hall was wildly successful in their efforts. Those who would like to peruse the winning document may view it here. https://www.ny.gov/sites/ny.gov/files/atoms/files/DRIRomeApplication.pdf
