“I was not delivered into this world in defeat nor does failure flow through my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, walk, to merge with the sheep. I will not hear those who weep and complain for their thoughts are contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure…Is not my destiny.”

What better way to spend the morning of Christmas Eve than with the gym family that I love so much. These people have helped me through some hard times, and never batted an eye. There were a few who couldn't make it, and you were missed. I love each and every one of you, and I hope you and your families have a safe and merry Christmas!

I tore my quad off the bone on the left leg, and had a partially torn hamstring on the right, all within 2 years! A few months ago my son asked me to do a powerlifting meet with him next year...his first, my last! How could I say no to that? He brings out the best in me every single workout, and keeps my form in check. He believes in me just as much as I believe in him. I am 46 now, and haven't competed in almost 7 years, BUT THE OLD MAN IS BACK...AND IT FEELS GOOD!

Saturday's Powerlifting meet was a blast! Thank you to Dr Dave Kingwater for putting on the best meet anywhere! Also, a huge thank you to Crossfit Mohawk Valley for the use of their amazing facility! I am beyond proud of my girl's performances. Kristin battled through a nagging back injury to do the bench only. Although she was red lighted for all three, due to not being able to keep her butt down because of her back, she still completed all 3 lifts and actually lifted the weight. Definitely nothing to be disappointed about. Danni was barely, and I mean barely even able to train for this meet...yet she smoked all 3 of her deadlifts like they were her warmup. Did I mention it was her first meet? She now has a PR of 250, waiting to join the 300 club shortly. Kara, in her first meet also, looked as if she belonged there! She went 5/6, with an easy PR on the deadlift of 320. Keep a close eye on this girl, she is going places in this sport. Last, but certainly not least, we come to Mighty Mouse. Shannon showed up to compete with a stomach bug and a temperature, and still hit a PR on the bench, and a 15lb PR on the deadlift...missing 360 by about 2 inches. She is the toughest chick I know, and an inspiration and role model to everyone that knows her, myself included. The World Championships are in site, just another accomplishment for a great athlete, and an even better person. Next year will be bigger for us in the powerlifting game, stay tuned for updates.
