This past week I as I was taking out the trash around the church I found myself rejoicing in the task at hand. It was something that made me think of what kingdom building looks like. It’s the small things that make it possible for the events, the Sundays, and the community meals that happen here. Imagine it like building a wall. If we didn’t have those that do the small things around us then we quickly become bogged down in trying to work around the junk in our lives. We need to be joyful in the small things that help build the wall. The need to clean up the garbage so that the work can continue. Don’t ever believe that your small task is unimportant in this journey. It’s double post SUNDAY! Shout out to Adrienne’s House for helping clean up our dining room area today! This morning we found the results of a flooded basement. We had debris and dirt from a backed up drain all over the floor in our community area. They rolled up their sleeves and blessed us before we could get back there at 3:00 to clean it up. So when the floods come in our lives and we wonder how high the waters will rise realize that Christ will speaks into the storms reaches into the waters to calm them. The waters will recede, the waves will calm, and our foundation is reaffirmed in Christ. So this is what planning for the kids ministry looks like for a month. We take our supplies and lessons place them in boxes and then put them out for Sunday. Sometimes though for all this planning and prepping God moves us in a different way. There have been Sundays when supplies aren’t used and plans aren’t carried out. That’s totally fine. Just in our everyday walk with Christ we find sometimes that all our best laid plans are not what God has planned for us. In these times we must realize it is our time to step aside and let God lead our hearts and minds. “...Your kingdom come. Your will be done.
