Thank you Heritage Park Preschool for having us out to spread our message about fire prevention!!!! We had a great time!!!
This morning at approximately 8:30am, multiple public safety agencies will be conducting a FULL SCALE TRAINING EXERCISE at the Owensboro/Daviess County regional airport. This exercise is designed to test the interoperability of multiple agencies in a real-world/real time mass casualty incident, and give feedback as to how we can improve our response in the future. If you are listening to any type of scanner this morning, you will hear emergency responders working to mitigate the PLANNED MOCK DISASTER. Please don't be alarmed at what you hear, this is just a TRAINING EXERCISE. Please share this post so we can get the word out, and feel free to tune in your scanner this morning and listen as your public safety agencies train together to better serve the citizens of Owensboro/Daviess County.

Today we mourn in unity with our brothers from the Owensboro Fire Dept in the loss of Captain Jeff Millay. Capt Millay exemplified what we all strive to be in our career in the fire service, and was a great mentor to the younger guys that were blessed enough to have been assigned to him. Capt Millay will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Captain.... Thank you for your compassionate service, we will apply what we have learned from you, and take it from here.

Returning the Favor At 09:04 this date, Daviess County Fire Dept alongside of the Airport-Sorgho Volunteer Dept responded to a major natural gas leak on Hwy 56 at Northwood Drive. At 09:23, while firefighters were busy protecting the utility workers, a second call for assistance was broadcasted. This time a female on Hwy 815 was experiencing a medical emergency and required immediate assistance. Assistant Chief/Paramedic unit #431 broke away from the gas leak and responded alongside of the St. Joseph Volunteer Fire Dept to stabilize her condition. At 09:45, tones once again dropped for a vehicle on fire at the intersection of Hwy 56 and Worthington road. With all county fire personnel in the vicinity busy mitigating the other emergencies, a request was made to have Owensboro Fire Dept assist with the vehicle fire. Without hesitation Owensboro Fire Dept Engine 3 responded to the call for assistance and handled the vehicle fire quickly and professionally. This makes twice this week that the Daviess County Fire Department and the Owensboro City Fire Dept have worked together to protect and serve the citizens of Owensboro/Daviess County.
