Don't forget to spring forward next weekend (3/11) and to change your smoke detector battery!
One of the biggest threats we face in spring is severe weather. Severe weather includes severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and tornadoes which all have potential threats to affect Mount Prospect. An important precaution you can take to protect yourself is to become weather aware by staying informed of weather forecasts and understanding the potential hazards our community can face. Knowing what to do and where to take shelter when watches and warnings are issued is critical to your safety, but a watch or warning is only helpful if you are aware. Update your emergency preparedness kit by replacing batteries in flashlights or radios, and replace any expired food or water. Take time to review your family emergency preparedness plan and make sure that each family member is familiar with the plan and can perform it alone if needed.
