UWA Early Head Start
Description
United Way of Acadiana Early Head Start gives your child an EARLY HEAD START to a good life – from pregnancy through age 3 - through a variety of services. Early Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children ages’ birth to three by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. The Early Head Start Program also provides services to pregnant mothers.
The United Way of Acadiana, Early Head Start program provides a learning environment that supports children’s growth in the following domains:
• Language and literacy
• Cognition and general knowledge
• Physical development and health
• Social and emotional development
• Approaches to learning
Services to enrolled children and families include health, nutrition, social and other services as determined to be necessary through a family needs assessment, as well as education and cognitive development services. The services are designed to be responsive to each child and family’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
