I’LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS – A Musical/Drama/Comedy Directed by Chet Fritz AUDITIONS: MONDAY & TUESDAY, OCT. 30 & 31, 7:00PM at JLT A faith-based story about a family right before World War II, complete with songs and radio shows from the big band swing era. Characters needed as follows: THE FAMILY Norma (30-35ish): A young wife and mother whose husband, Pete, is a pilot/mechanic and is currently working on an airbase. Independent and determined, yet vulnerable. Her dream is for Pete to return home so that she might have her family and life back again. Howard (65ish): Norma’s father. His wife died during World War I from typhus. He is wry, obstinate, but ultimately very wise. He provides the audience the window into the family’s world. His dream is for there to be peace on earth again. Angie (25-30ish): Norma’s younger sister, works in a bookstore and is single. Impulsive, passionate, sensitive. Her dream is to find romance. Micky (8-10): Norma’s son. Adventurous and inquisitive – his dream is to become a hero, find the ‘bad guys’ and defeat them. Danny (25-30ish): The mailman, somewhat clumsy and hapless, but charming. He has a crush on Angie but is too shy to show it. Sid (55-60ish): The man downstairs, a retired car salesman who lives alone and plays the violin at all hours. Lil (45-50ish): The building maintenance supervisor, a job that she took over for her husband when he died. How she handles the pipes is how she handles life. THE RADIO SHOW Jerry Brainerd (25-50ish): The radio announcer who communicates a world with his voice. A cross between Don Pardo and Paul Harvey. 6 Radio Actors, male and female, who will perform all the radio segments by sharing acting and sounds effects responsibility. The Choir: (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) – 25-30 members MUST be able to read music (The Choir is an extremely important part of the production) Auditions will consist of cold-readings from the script. You will sing a familiar song from the score. Performance Dates: December 13-17, 2017
