A Night of Yin & Yoga Nidra

Join Stephanie Vazquez for a night of Yin Yoga and soothing Yoga Nidra! Yin yoga consists of passive floor poses that are held for extended periods of time. The purpose of this practice is to get into those deep connective tissues such as your ligaments and tendons that we don’t normally stretch or use during a regular (yang) yoga class or any of our other workouts. Including a Yin class into your routine will help you hold poses longer and help increase your flexibility during your more dynamic yoga classes. Yin yoga also helps to decrease stress and in this class we will be working on relaxing both the body and the mind and prepare us to go into a deep state of meditation. Yoga Nidra is translated as “yogic sleep” or a state of conscious deep sleep. The goal is to leave the waking state, go past the dream state, and go to deep sleep while actually staying awake. At the end of each class I will be guiding you through a Yoga Nidra and find a peaceful state where you will feel totally relaxed and expansively present at the same time. This is a class suitable for beginners but is great for seasoned practitioners as well! Pre-registration price: $20 At the door: $25

FEATURING WELCOME MAT STUDENTS! We are creating a great community at The Mat! Here is a look at two of our students for June ! :) Keep it up yogis ! We are so grateful to have you at our studio! <3 About Andy Nyman and Stephanie Lozito Andy: I have been practicing yoga for a year and a half I started the practice initially as a means of stretching after exercise. The benefits of yoga for me have far surpassed my initial intention. I have become much more mindful and at peace with myself and everyone and everything around me. Yoga has also helped me achieve personal goals and given me focus that I never had before. Stephanie: Andy encouraged me to start yoga almost a year ago. I was hooked since my first class. In addition to the physical benefits (I'm closer to touching my toes than ever in my life!), it's helped me move through the world more peacefully, and has opened my mind to a new way of thinking. When I practice yoga, I try to be patient, mindful and balanced - and I carry that with me in my daily life, and I am so grateful to yoga every day for it.
