One of the oldest hospitals in East Texas, ETMC Jacksonville was established in 1919 as the nine-bed Cherokee Sanitarium. In 1930, it was renamed Nan Travis Memorial Hospital in honor of the mother of physicians J.M. and R.T. Travis.

The hospital affiliated with ETMC in 1997. With the affiliation came plans for substantial expansion and renovation of our facility in the heart of Jacksonville.

In 2002, a $20 million construction project opened featuring a majestic Grand Lobby, a 16-bed ambulatory care center, a six-bed intensive care unit and three surgery suites.

Since that time, we’ve continued to invest in our facilities and in equipment upgrades including patient room renovations, a new emergency department entrance and the addition of digital mammography.

We recognize the importance of a well-educated, trained healthcare workforce. To that end, we became host to Tyler Junior College’s nursing instruction facility in Jacksonville in 2008.

We are proud to provide a broad range of healthcare services, including Cherokee County’s only obstetrical unit and only intensive care unit.

We invite you to further explore our offerings and to allow us to serve your family’s healthcare needs.
