Trivia is more than just a challenge of obscure facts. More than anything, it’s fun and engaging. And for 29 years, Honda has utilized trivia to engage students in an academic quiz competition for Historically Black Universities and Colleges (HBCUs). For students at Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss., winners of this year’s Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC), the grant from Honda has a positive impact on their college experience. http://fal.cn/ySmz

#JSUStudents - Go, Tigers! For the seventh year in a row, the Jackson State Tigers received favorable NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and no JSU teams were placed in the NCAA penalty structure. Men’s cross country and women’s bowling received public recognition from the NCAA for recording perfect 1000 APR scores!

#JSUAlums - Everyone, let's congratulate Tangela Banks! Banks, formerly women's basketball coach at Jackson's Murrah High School, is the new head coach for the Lady Bulldogs basketball team at Hinds Community College's Utica Campus.

#JSUAlums - “We wanted to give kids a free-flowing space to just have some conversations and to talk to their mentors about things that just were on their mind — because maybe they don’t have that at home,” explained Augustine Emuwa, Gale Community Academy's principal.

Jackson State University paid tribute to retiring faculty and staff last month in a special “Thee I Love” celebration held in the Student Center. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Mary M. White, also a JSU retiree with 43 years of experience at JSU.

#JSULove - “Jamekius and I met our freshman year in college. He was a member of the Sonic Boom of the South’s drumline, and I was a JSU cheerleader. We don’t have the typical love story; it wasn’t love at first sight. We barely even liked each other. However, as we grew more familiar with each other, our flirtatious ways started to emerge, and before we knew it, we were on our first date. The funny thing is we vowed not to fall in love with each other. Since I am from New Orleans and he is from Jackson, we just figured we would go our separate ways after graduation. However, God definitely laughed at our plans. I graduated from JSU with my first degree in May 2013, but I was apprehensive about leaving Jackson because of him. Then just a few short weeks later, his mother passed away. Immediately, without thinking twice about it, I turned the car around and headed back to Jackson. From that point forward, a bond was created that no man on earth could tear apart. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Let’s fast forward a little. I like to say we unknowingly got engaged. I graduated with my master’s in April 2016, and he graduated with his bachelor's the next day. That Monday after celebrating, we went out for breakfast and then to the mall. While we were in the mall, we stopped at Kay's Jewelers, and he proposed right there. The thing I appreciated most was that it was spontaneous and unplanned - just like us! Who would have thought Jackson State University would be where I’d find my soulmate?” - Darenique (Class of 2013 & 2016) on her engagement to Jamekius (Class of 2016) Congratulations to Darenique and Jamekius! They got married yesterday!
