We’ve heard the screams and cries for help! We’ve seen the frustration and irritation of those who have tried and tried, and failed. And, we’ve witness the pleasure onlookers have expressed from those failed attempts. “At what?” you ask…. Well, at Parallel Parking of course! And the City of Hermiston is coming to the rescue! We will be changing parallel parking to diagonal parking on the north side of E Glady’s Ave (from NE 2nd St to NE 3rd St, in front of the Library) and on the east side of SE 2nd St (from E Hurlburt Ave to E Main St). The Hermiston City Council, will consider implementing, "Extra-Wide Comfort Lanes," on Highway 395 through town at its next meeting. Hermiston Seeks Artistic and Creative Volunteers for its first Mini-Float in Portland's Rose Festival Parade!!! Are you: Artistic, Creative, Resourceful, and Like Parades? Then we welcome and encourage you to attend the first Rose Festival Parade Float Meeting at City Hall on Thursday, January 26th at 5:30pm. The City is looking for community champions that have an interest in creating and building a Mini-Float made of all organic materials that represents and promotes the City of Hermiston at this year’s Portland Rose Festival Parade held in June. Please help us showcase what a great City Hermiston is by volunteering in this spectacular project and event!

Please be careful in the area of W. Highland & 10th, as we have had a 4" water line break this morning. City Crews are out repairing it, and are likely to be there through this afternoon. We don't think this was directly related to the cold, but this is still a good reminder for everyone to insulate your meter boxes to keep them from freezing in this extreme cold.
