DO NOT feed any seabirds filleted fish carcasses, EVER! This can KILL and SERIOUSLY injure them! It's also against the law statewide in Florida now.
The Dunedin Community Sailing Foundation, a private organization, needs to stay at Dunedin Marina! They belong at a marina, NOT at a small lightly-used area of Dunedin Causeway next to a bird nesting area and an extremely shallow coastal tidal flat that's completely inappropriate for launching sailboats.
Many thanks to the Clearwater Audubon Society for taking the time to review the plans by the Dunedin Community Sailing Foundation (a private organization not associated with the City of Dunedin) to build a center on the Dunedin Causeway and utilize the shoreline and parking / recreation area beside the bird sanctuary and the impacts it would have on this unique and very environmentally-significant area... and especially for agreeing with the overwhelming majority of citizens that this is NOT a good plan. Here is the letter that the President, Barbara Walker, recently sent to the Foundation, outlining Audubon's concerns. Audubon Florida has also issued a letter stating their reasons for not supporting the use of this area by the Sailing Foundation and suggesting they work toward finding a different area with deeper water and less environmental concerns.
