New artist exhibits monthly in conjunction with Dunedin’s Wine and Walk every 2nd Friday Night Openings 5:30-8:30 PM  In 1997, some local artists were approached by Harry Williams, the owner of a previously used antique consignment building at 960 Douglas St. into helping develop a new work-show-studio center at that establishment. This presented a timely opportunity, as these artists were looking for new studio space. Gradually more artists joined the group until the number grew to more than a dozen. It was recognized that the group needed to be organized. John Lowe was elected chairman, Elaine Schilp secretary and Toni Hutfilz treasurer. They chose to name themselves the Trailway Art Colony. A lot of experimenting took place. Showings of the group were organized from time to time. Later, the first Friday evening of every month was made the official showing time. Then, outside artists were urged to promote their work, using the Great Room for exhibits. A newly developing Tampa area magazine named Imago came into the picture - an arrangement was made and the name of the artists’ group was changed to Imago, promoting both the artists and the magazine. In 2007, an unfortunate accident put the Imago artists out of their building due to a fire. But, arising from the flames, they have now moved into Dunedin Art Center’s Stirling Campus on Broadway Ave. in beautiful downtown Dunedin. New artists have joined the group and they continue with monthly openings in conjunction with Dunedin's Wine and Walk.
