Warp and Weft Workshops
Description
Ruth Mannion and Lindsay Bradburn are Warp and Weft. We are thrilled to announce our brand-new sewing and crafting venture, Warp and Weft Workshops! Ruth Mannion, Creative Director
One of Ruth’s earliest memories is stealing a piece of fabric from a pile near her mom’s sewing table. She attached her scrap to a stick and marched through the fields behind her house, proudly waving her flag. She later discovered her flag was the seat of the pair of underwear her frugal mother was making her.
Her mother loved to sew and craft, and taught her to share that love. Ruth is happiest when she is creating. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2001 with a degree in Theater Design and Technology, emphasizing in costume and makeup design. Building on the foundations taught to her by her mother, she learned to design, draft, cut and sew costumes. In the years since she’s left school, she’s worked as a seamstress, costume design assistant, florist, makeup artist, wig stylist, and a mother. Ruth has dabbled in pottery, glass blowing, jewelry making, crochet, and is currently the art docent in three of her daughters’ elementary school classes.
Ruth is a mother of four daughters, and loves to teach and create with them, and is ready to share that joy with you!
Lindsay Bradburn, Operations Manager
Lindsay is a mother of three, two of which are craft-loving girls. She took her first sewing lessons when she was nine, and has loved knowing how to sew since. She grew up learning how to hand-darn her own hole-laden socks under her mother’s supervision. Her latest loves are hand embroidery and making her own patterns for cross stitch.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 2003 in business management and loves planning and executing all kinds of events like fundraisers, 5K races, donation drives, and service projects with her children. She recently helped start a non-profit scholarship fund that is currently building a medical clinic in rural Guatemala. She enjoys being active in fundraising for her children’s elementary school and knows that learning a useful skill like sewing as a child will be fulfilling and fun for years to come. She is pleased to be a part of this fun new crafting venture!
