Dine. Dwell. Do in Downtown Cedar Rapids! This district features a variety of dining and shopping options, a vibrant arts and culture community and exciting nightlife. In 1986, the Downtown Cedar Rapids Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) was created by vote of the downtown property owners for community development, streetscape and beautification improvements. The Cedar Rapids Downtown SSMID previously operated within the Cedar Rapids Downtown District.
The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance combines the the economic development and community development efforts of the former Cedar Rapids Downtown District, Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce and Priority One. The new organization began January 1, 2012.

April 8-14 marks National Library Week. At the Cedar Rapids Public Library’s downtown location, you can curl up with a book, utilize one of their public computers or grab a bite at Greyhound Deli & Café. Starting July 1, the Downtown library will again offer Sunday hours. In addition to their normal hours, you’ll be able to stop in on Sundays between 1 - 5 p.m. More info on their website, crlibrary.org.
