"redwood dark and cool puts me in a good mood tents all over protected by law forever here" A Cub Scout Troop recently camped at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. While here, they each filled out our Junior Ranger Adventure Guide to earn our really cool Junior Ranger Badge. One of the requirements is to write a poem. We thought this cub scout's poem was beautiful! For more information on our Junior Ranger Program go to: http://kids.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24064 or call us at (831) 338 -8860.

Big Basin State Park visitor Lori Ferguson sent us this picture of what appears to be a face in a rock that she saw while hiking along Blooms Creek. Underlying all that moss is sandstone, the predominant rock in our park. As water drips down, it carves out holes in the rock. Tree roots can also cause holes, creating some great artistic effects. In this case, mother nature seems to have a sense of humor! Thanks Lori!
