Shakti Yoga Shala at La Ventana
Description
The Shakti Yoga Shala was founded by Samantha Shakti and Bradley Brown. We are dedicated to the path of Yoga. Come & join us to practice in the beautiful the redwoods!
Samantha S. Brown (Matthews) is currently the primary yoga teacher at the Shakti Yoga Shala at La Ventana. She teaches what she has termed Balanced Action Yoga that integrates the rich tradition of athletic, flowing hatha yoga with a modern understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Combining classical yoga postures, physical therapeutics, plyometrics, dance, meditation and community building, Balanced Action
To Sam yoga is an invitation to whole self healing through remembering that yoga is more than any one physical posture, but a lens through which one views the world.
Samantha is dedicated to sharing her love and passion for the practice through all areas of her life. She began practicing yoga at the age of twelve and started teaching at the age of seventeen. After more than 25 years of experience, she has become a locally- and internationally-recognized teacher known for her ability to empower people to fully harness their own health and wellness.
Sam is known to be skilled healer who works with people individually and collectively, she also trains health care professionals how to move people out of patterns of pain. Her classes are infused with bio-mechanical precision and spiritual insight that evokes vibrant health and joy. In addition to holding a degree in Far Eastern Religions from Hendrix College and the University of Malta, she is registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest level E-RYT®500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer).
Samantha is a featured teacher on Gaim TV/My Yoga Online and Grokker. She also holds multiple certifications and has extensive training in performance fitness, massage, body work, and Far Eastern and Native American energy therapy.
As a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Samantha sees yoga as the ultimate lifestyle synthesis of intentional action, celebration and service. Samantha has dedicated her life to developing local and international service opportunities to build community connection and serve the basic needs of all beings as a basis to foster human connection for the unified awakening of all.

Dear Shala Friends- As one door closes another one opens. In this case, it is La Ventana, which means “the window” in Spanish. This is an update of our current and future offerings. Please scroll all the way down so you don't miss any opportunity you might like to practice together. We appreciate you so much and intend for our community to stay connected and continue to grow. Your Shala class passes will transfer to the classes at La Ventana. Samantha will be teaching, starting this Wednesday at 9:30AM at the beautiful La Ventana Retreat Center. Starting October 8th, Mary will be teaching at La Ventana on Fridays at 9:30am. Many thanks to Shimshai and Susana for making this possible! You can find directions to La Ventana using GPS or any map service: La Ventana 837 Chaparral Road Boulder Creek, CA 95006 Directions: From the town of Boulder Creek. Proceed 3.5 miles on Big Basin Way (236) and just past the golf course, turn right onto Kings Highway. Follow Kings Highway 0.7 miles then turn left onto Chaparral Road. You may also be able to follow La Ventana signs from Kings Highway in case of any confusion. Please park in the upper road above the main driveway on the far right side of the road leaving room for other cars to get by. Our temple is located at the end of the parking road. Just park your car as close as possible to the car in front of you on the right side of the road. If you keep walking on that same road you will find the new temple. There will be someone available in case you need help. La Ventana is located a few miles from "civilization." This isolation and tranquility can deepen your experience at La Ventana, yet for many guests it can be a significant change in environment. Water: We have drinking water available at the kitchen sink. Bathrooms: We have two composting toilets right outside our temple for everyone. Please follow the instructions located inside the composting toilets and get familiar with their usage before using it. Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in any accommodations, meeting rooms, or other indoor or outdoor spaces. Mary has a brand new class in Boulder Creek, starting Tuesday, September 6!
