BLOOMINGTON – Daniel F. Stuedemann, 44, passed away, Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was born July 18, 1973, in Moline, IL, the son of Lowell Stuedemann and Susie (Wells) Ray. He married Melissa D. McMains on December 14, 2007 in Bloomington. She survives. Survivors also include his parents, Lowell (Juli) Stuedemann, Susie (Jerry) Ray, and step-father, Alan King; one brother, Timothy (Amanda) Stuedemann; one sister, Patricia (Chad) Dohrmann; three step-brothers, Ralph Paysen, Chris Paysen, and Josh (Becky Hull) Paysen; his maternal grandfather, Harold Wells; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Esther Stuedemann; and maternal grandmother, Hazel Wells. To his birth family, he will always be “Danny”. To his in-laws, “Daniel”. To his wife and most close circles of friendship, simply “Dan”. Dan grew up in the Quad Cities, and relocated to Bloomington in 2007 to join a team planting a new church. He took great delight in his church family. He enjoyed playing the drums for worship and listening to various types and genres of music. Dan had a passion for repurposing items from second-hand shops and garage sales. He took pleasure in furnishing his home with these items. Dan loved animals, especially his cats, and always enjoyed a game of Scrabble with anyone who would challenge him. While Dan had a variety of employers over his lifetime, he defined himself as Christian first, husband second, and friend third. He never defined himself by his job title. He will be deeply missed. Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Point of Change, Church of the Nazarene. Service will be held at 1pm, visitation will take place from 2pm-4pm (following the service). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sterile Feral, PO Box 3413, Bloomington, IL 61702.

Dear Loving PoC|Family, Yesterday I received the heartbreaking news that our friend Dan Stuedemann passed away suddenly in his home. As you know, Dan and Melissa are faithful Jesus-lovers and our beautiful friends. As you can imagine, Melissa is trusting the Lord as she processes this information and is leaning on her family, Dan’s family and her PoC|Family for comfort, strength and prayers. At this point, we have very few details about Dan‘s passing or the funeral arrangements. As we know more, we will be faithful to communicate it to you. The last time I spoke with Dan, he was quick to say how much he appreciated all of the care that he was receiving from his church family and friends, and expressed his great love for the Lord and Melissa. Without a doubt, I know that this warm gentleman with such a beautiful mind and kind smile is with our Savior. As hard as these things are to understand, Heaven is more wonderful than we could ever imagine. Melissa is without a phone right now, so if you need to communicate with her, she is on Facebook and also checks her email. If you would like her email information, please let me know. Again, as we have more information, we will update you. Please feel free to reach out and encourage Melissa and her family. During times like this, I lean on Psalm 7: [1] May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. [2] May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. [3] May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. [4] May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. [5] May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. [6] Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. [7] Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. [8] They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. [9] Lord, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call! We Are Trusting Jesus and Standing Together, Pastor Todd todd@poc.church

Hey Beautiful PoC, don't forget to spring forward tonight! I'm so excited about our service tomorrow as we get to experience more from our Helper, the Holy Spirit. The Good News: He Is Still Saving Us!!!
PoC & Friends, when you join us tomorrow for worship at 10 AM, you will be joining a team of great city-loving helpers!! God has given us quite a gift in Bloomington/Normal and our surrounding towns and villages, and along with that gift we have a blessed opportunity and privilege to be helpers. In fact, we believe that EVERYONE is CHOSEN to enjoy friendship and belonging with Jesus and others, CHALLENGED to grow deep and lead effectively, and CHARGED to bring help and hope to our cities. We believe YOU have unique experiences, gifts and insight that your city needs. People in your life need ANOTHER HELPER. When Jesus began saying His goodbyes to His disciples, He explained that His earthly exit was not only necessary, but better for us because our effectiveness would be increased through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who He called Another Helper (John 14:16). Join us as we learn and experience more about the Holy Spirit and the help that is available to you and through you. Thank You for being such an important and significant part of the helpful PoC|

Dear PoC|Family, we received two notices from our district and extended PoC Friends that Carolyn Davis (former pastor’s wife at Bloomington First and mother of many dear NWIL Friends) passed away this past Sunday. The 2nd notice came today from Karen Kesner, sister of Nola Embry, saying that Karen and Nola’s mom, Betty Embry passed away today. Betty attended PoC with Nola and is much loved by our church family. Please be in prayer for the entire Davis family as well as the Embry/Kesner families.
