Society of Women in the Physical Sciences Event: 1/27, 5pm in 375 LeConte Hall The Society of Women in the Physical Sciences will host "Demystifying Research: Dinner and Discussion" this Wednesday, 1/27, at 5pm in 375 LeConte Hall. Undergraduate courses are great for gaining the skills and tools you need to be a scientist, but they don't often paint a clear picture of what to expect as a working researcher. At this event, we hope to give you an idea of what it is like to do research and what the main areas of research in the physical sciences currently are. Come learn about the biggest fields of research in physics, astronomy, chemistry, and earth and planetary sciences. You'll get a chance to talk to graduate students involved in many of these areas of research. You can find out what their day-to-day in the lab or office is like, how they first got involved in research, and what led them to choose the area they work in. Pizza will be provided. We hope to see you there! Best, Sylvia Lewin SWPS Big Events Coordinator
