Campus has weathered the storm, and though the results are slippery, they are beautiful. If you listen, you can hear the ringing of the Park Place Church of God bells, tolling for 5 p.m. We are grateful to our physical plant staff, who have worked tirelessly to clear our paths and parking lots all day! The Peace and Conflict Transformation (PACT) lecture series is an opportunity to hear from those who have devoted their lives to educating others on matters of forgiveness and reconciliation. The first lecture in the four-part series, with speaker Arno Michaelis, will take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 16 in Reardon Auditorium. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Michaelis was a founding member of a notorious worldwide racist skinhead organization, a reverend of a self-declared racial holy war, and frontman of the hate-metal band Centurion. The love for his daughter and the forgiveness shown by people he once hated helped to turn his life around, bringing him to embrace diversity and practice gratitude.
