Hi everyone, we have been asked by Henry Hill to post about the two vacancies in the NOCS Environmental Committee. The vacancies are for Undergraduate Reps. The roles last the academic year and involve attending monthly meetings, where the Reps will voice concerns and suggestions raised by undergraduate years to the Committee. This is a great opportunity to boost your CV whilst helping the NOCS become even more environmentally-friendly. Hi everyone! Just want to let you all know about a really good Engineering Society that are looking for some geologists to work with them on development projects in Cameroon! If you are at all interested, I would encourage anyone to read further and attend their first general meeting TOMORROW! Cameroon Catalyst is a student led Development Charity based at the University of Southampton. The charity focuses on sustainable development in rural Cameroon. Previous projects have included a school, health centre and electricity hub. The team are currently working towards building 10 wells over the next 3 years in various villages in addition to the initial stages of sanitation projects. There are many different roles that students at this University can get involved in such as the design of projects, organising fundrasing events or even just baking cakes for cake sales! There are multiple spaces available on the design team for Geologists due to the nature of the current projects ,so if you are interested in really getting involved in a charity and making a difference then Cameroon Catalyst is perfect for you. We're kicking the year off with the traditional HARD HAT SOCIAL on the 7th October! It's been about for years and, as the name suggests, you have to bring your hard hats out with you! Looking forward to seeing you about over freshers!

Hey! Quick reminder about our vacancy for Treasurer! All applications must be submitted by 23:59 Sunday. For those of you who don't know, Treasurer is in charge of managing the bank accounts, will hold all of the statements, and be in charge of recording any transactions going into and out of the account. They will advise us on what we can and can't afford, and will deal with every member of the committee when it comes to money. This includes trip sec with trip money, kit sec for jumpers and year reps with membership forms etc. We would also want treasurer to apply for grants. Its a really important role, so we need someone reliable! (It also looks fab on your CV!) Good luck!!

Geology for Global Development is our chosen charity for the next academic year, so look forward to seeing lots of GFGD about as we do our best to raise funds for the geoscience charity! For anybody looking for a chance to get involved in GFGD, they're looking to recruit more committee members for next year! Hey everyone! Unfortunately, our Treasurer for the next academic year is unable to continue, but what this does mean is that the position of Treasurer is once again open! If you want to apply to become the Treasurer for the Geological Society 2016/17 then please send us a paragraph stating why you want to be Treasurer by email to myself 'sr8g15@soton.ac.uk' (Please don't use geolsoc.susu.org).
