We are hosting Swimathon at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre in April! Since Swimathon began, over £48 million has been raised for various charities; this year’s fundraising will go towards Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. There’s a range of Swimathon challenge distances from individual 400m to a team 5K so there will definitely be an event for you. As part of World Cancer Day, we are turning the centre pink and would love for you all to get involved by wearing something pink too. We have line dancing in the sports hall between 10:00 – 10:45 led by Russell. At 11:00 in the dance studio, we have a cake sale and a quiz with teams of five required. This is all rounded off with another line dancing session at 12:15 in the sports hall. We also have unity bands on sale at reception and would love to see you wearing them! The latest forecast shows that 1 in 2 people will develop cancer at some point in their lives. Around 352,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK, which on average means that one person is diagnosed every two minutes. Did you know that Cancer Research UK is our charity partner for 2018? We are now taking bookings for Playscheme at The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Centre for the February half-term (19th – 23rd). The Better Holiday Playscheme includes a fun packed day with arts and crafts, football, swimming, soft play, outside athletics, themed games, and so much more to keep your child entertained in the holidays. The scheme is available for children from the September following their 5th birthday until their 12th birthday. Breakfast club and lunch are also available.
