Meet-up with Headless Cross Community Orchard on the Green went great! https://www.facebook.com/groups/309217381794/ We are working together to build awareness for the global eradication of Polio through the planting of Purple Crocus Corms on the Green at Headless Cross as a symbol of the Polio vaccination drops given to millions of children. In the next couple of weeks we should be able to plant up to 5000 crocus corms which will give a blaze of glorious colour in February 2017 and each year thereafter :-)
World Polio Day | End Polio
Did you know that Monday 24th October is World Polio Day? In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed more than $1.6 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries. In addition, Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by donor governments to contribute more than $7.2 billion to the effort. You can find out more at http://www.endpolio.org/ and find ways to donate at http://www.rotarygbi.org/donate/ We need your continued support to help us eradicate Polio from the world forever...
