This charming 18th century Windmill set in the picturesque village of Clifton, between Preston and Blackpool is today a traditional inn and restaurant. Here at the windmill we pride ourselves on delivering fantastic service and great, honest and flavoursome regional food.Built around 1778 Clifton Windmill is the Fylde’s tallest and oldest windmill. Built from stone from all around the county the restaurant you now sit in was, until relatively recently, a fully working corn mill. Believed to be the second tallest windmill of it’s type in England, there are six floors in total.

The internal mechanics for the blades were renovated and in the most part replaced in 1952 although the Mill only continued to work for a few years after, due to advancing technologies within the industry.
Over the course of time the “Mill” dilapidated until a point at which the decision was made by the Parish Council for the blades to be removed as they had become a severe safety concern. For a time the buildings were used to house livestock until they were finally joined (the corn stores and the windmill were originally separate buildings) and renovated into the restaurant you now see.
