The Sail Loft Bunkhouse Portsoy
Description
The Sail Loft provides self catering accommodation for up to 25 visitors in Portsoy. These buildings, which are listed as category B by Historic Scotland, were formerly a Sail Making Loft, a finely detailed Georgian House and two associated cottages. They sit in an open area at Back Green in Portsoy, which was once an industrial site used for the manufacture of thread from flax. The buildings have been derelict since the ropeworks fell into decline. However, in 2006, North East Scotland Preservation Trust (NESPT) acquired the buildings and work was undertaken to repair them and convert them into bunkhouse accommodation for visitors to Portsoy. The Sail Loft bunkhouse accommodation was completed and opened in February 2017. It is operated by Portsoy Community Enterprise www.portsoy.org
