Broken Valentine needs help to kiss again Gables Farm Dogs and Cats Home has recently rescued Valentine, a 5 year old ginger and white cat, who had his jaw badly broken during a dog attack. He has already been unlucky in love as he lost a leg following a road traffic accident a few years ago. He was living with the dog that attacked him, and his owner was unable to cover the cost of the urgent surgery and care needed, so Gables Farm took him into their care. Valentine’s injuries were so extensive that a specialist Vet was consulted to determine if surgery was even possible. He will need to have his jaw wired during surgery, a feeding tube inserted and 24 hour nursing care following the surgery. It is estimated that it will cost the Home around £650 for the surgery to fix his jaw and all of his after care. Deputy Manager Ruth Rickard said: “Poor Valentine is such a lovely cat and to be attacked by a dog he lives with in his own home must have been so traumatic. We are so lucky that our non-euthanasia policy is supported by our Vets and they are doing everything they can to save him. We hope our wonderful supporters will spread their love in the run up to Valentine’s Day and help us to save this lovely little cat”. If you can help by making a contribution to ‘Broken Valentine needs help to kiss again’ please call 01752 331602 or visit www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/gablesfarm/valentine to donate online. You can also text your donation by texting VALK18 to 70070. If Gables Farm is lucky enough to raise more money than is needed it will go towards helping the other animals in their care.

Once I have bonded I am very loving, happy and playful. I enjoy going for walks but I need to build up my confidence with other dogs as I’m frightened to go and say hello at the moment. I love playing with toys and I’m very good at fetch, I like tug games too. I will need lots of training and confidence building once I am settled into my new home but with some time and the correct training methods I should come on leaps and bounds. What kind of home am I looking for? I’m looking for a very special family who have experience with small, nervous and snappy dogs in the past. I can’t live with other dogs because I am too frightened of them.
