Plans are already underway for our 30th anniversary Scottish Game Fair, which will be held on Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st July 2018. This is going to be a very special and memorable Fair and more information will be made available here soon. The 29th GWCT Scottish Game Fair in Scone Palace’s beautiful Parklands did not disappoint with thousands of visitors streaming through the gates over three lively days.

Families, our Trust members and country enthusiasts alike enjoyed the new Four Nations International Gun Dog challenge on Saturday, which was won by England. The new Fly Fishing Mall and events, demonstrations and Anglers Bothy proved a welcome addition to this year’s Fair along with the return of the World of Gundogs and main ring performances by the Clwyd Axe-men, popular Dog and Duck Show and Falconry were real crowd-pleasers.

This years Fred Taylor Memorial Award for Working Hill Ponies was won by Glenprosen Estate in Kirriemuir, Angus. Sponsored by London Gunmaker John Rigby & Co., with a record 19 entrants, Eric Stark with pony ‘Mia’ from Glenprosen Estate was presented with a new Rigby Highland Stalker rifle by Simon Barr on behalf of John Rigby & Co.

Some 470 traders ensured that visitors were spoilt for choice with the country’s finest crafts, clothing, sporting goods and equipment, and food and drink producers.

Firmly established as Scotland’s most popular outdoor event, the Fair is a true celebration of rural Scotland and veritable showcase of game, wildlife and countryside management. This year we ensured an even greater focus on country sports welcoming experts such as Massimo Magliocco, one of the world’s outstanding casters.

Our Food Hall and Cookery Theatre, sponsored by Macdonald Hotels, served up expert cookery demos with Foodie in Residence Christopher Trotter welcoming Masterchef: The Professionals’ winner Jamie Scott among others.

We would like to give a huge thanks to all those who supported this year’s Fair. From our fantastic volunteers, traders, sponsors and visitors to our event performances, chefs and professional demonstrations, this was a year to remember.
