Blackstone Academy is an exciting initiative to enhance provisions of Islamic learning to meet the growing needs and challenges of the 21st century. We seek to develop and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that is academically challenging, rooted in tradition yet wholly congruent and in sync with the modern world. In a deeply material world, we aim to nurture the spiritual and moral elements of our consciousness that gives meaning to life and clarity amidst clouds of confusion.
Our centre is a dynamic hub for learning and development. We aim to design and offer courses, seminars, workshops and conventions, and many other projects and activities that meet the needs of Muslims living in the west, regardless of their age, gender, and background. From casual learners and beginners wishing to brush up on the basics to the serious and advanced learners seeking career paths, we have something to offer everyone!

"If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books." - Roald Dahl At Blackstone, we recognise and appreciate the value of books. Reading is learning; it increases knowledge and intellectual capacities - something we want for all of our students! MashaAllah, it's nice to see many of our young students reading. However, a lot of our older students have said that they find reading difficult. Has anybody got any tips on how to get into reading? Comment below :)

This month, Blackstone Academy are taking part in Muslim Aid - North Region's 'LET'S MOVE A MOUNTAIN' campaign. Our students have been bringing in lots of food to give to those in need in our local community. We will be doing this throughout January, so if there are any parents or students who would still like to donate food, then please feel free to bring them in. Or if you are someone who lives in the locality and would like to also donate, you are more than welcome to do so. Alhamdulillah, our mountain of food is already looking good! May Allah accept! Ameen.
Love For The Qur'an Allah's stories are written in the Qur'an To tell us about the past and how life began Stories in the heat and the desert sand It tells us how man first walked on land The Qur'an has never been changed and will always remain the same Allah sent the Qur'an to a prophet, Muhammad was his name We learn about the things that will happen on judgement day The day that everyone will rise from their graves The Qur'an has come down to reach each and every town When you read the Qur'an you will never have a frown To show respect we never put it on the ground When you hear the Qur'an your love for Allah will be found. Oh, the perils of poor reading! Men with mighty egos in hatred seething Assemble the letters to make up the wording They devour the sentence firmly believing They have read what was written yet fumble the meaning. —- Shaykh Siddiq Munshi
Alhamdulillah, our event last week on the topic of gender interaction has evoked a great deal of debate and discussion in the community, which I think is a positive step forward. We really need to challenge our thoughts and question our beliefs about men and women interacting, especially in sacred space. However, I think our Bangla speaking audience missed out because I've had a number of requests, since the event last week, to do the talk in Bangla. So insha Allah, we'll be organising a talk on gender interaction in Bangla as soon as we can! Shaykh Siddiq Munshi
