So, the Clegg Cup league has been update with the latest results and we've dropped to third place. Forth are 20 points behind, but only have one match left to catch up on so they can't catch us. Rockcliffe are 30 points behind, but with 2 games left could only get 28 points, so they can't catch us. Crawford Park are 32 points behind, but again, only have 2 games left, so a maximum of 28 points, so they can't catch us. However, Cowpen & Crofton are 40 points behind, but they have three games left, so a maximum of 42, so they could still catch us...

Last night saw the first of our club competition finals - the Warkworth Cup to become our Men's Champion. The finalists were Geoff Adams and David Leslie. With a crowd of members watching, it was David Leslie who ended the night as Champion. Commiserations to Geoff, but we're sure many other finals await him...

We had our last game last night in the Clegg Cup League, just 4 points, leaving us on 118. We'll just have to wait and see if that is enough for promotion!

So, all but one of the club competition finals have been reached... In the Elizabeth Mercer Cup, to be the Ladies Champion, we have Amy Dunton v Sandra Wrigg - Sunday 25th August In the Warkworth Cup, to be the Men's Champion we have Geoff Adams v David Leslie - Thursday 22nd August In the Appleby Cup, our 2 bowl competition, we have Carol Brodie v Geoff Adams - Sunday 25th August Carol is the first lady member to ever reach the final of this competition. In the Bolton Cup, the club handicap, we have Colin Smyth v Mick Brodie - Saturday 31st August. Mick is the current handicap winner so has a +6 handicap. This year, for the first time ever, the winner of the the ladies championship and the winner of the men's championship will play against each other to become our Champion of Champions and will become our entry for the Tynemouth & District Bowling Association West Russell Cup. They will also receive the "Champion" Badge for one year! Good luck to all involved!

Just 2 points last night against Hexham House, but if my calculations are correct, this will still leave us in second place...just!

Just 3 points last night against Tynemouth at Tynemouth Park...

So a very solid 12 points last night, plus the 2 from Monday takes us to 112 (which isn't on the table yet) so... Hexham House (16 points behind) have a catch up game with Portland - who haven't lost a game all season, we play them next Wednesday and their final game is against Crawford Park so they could still catch us, but that would still leave us in third. Crawford (28 points behind) have a catch up game against Westerhope Community plus a game against Westerhope Community and their final game is Hexham House - a possible 42 points to be had. Cowpen & Crofton (35 points behind) have a catch up game against Heaton Victoria, another against Rockcliffe and another against Westerhope Community plus games against Rockcliffe, but their final game is a bye - a possible 56 points to be had. Forth (36 points behind) have a catch up game against Rockcliffe, they played Heaton Victoria, but the result is not known yet, a Bye next Wednesday and their final game is against the undefeated Portland - a possible 42 points to be had. So no chickens are being counted quite yet!

We played our last Knight Cup game last night against Byker Village and ended the night with 12 points. This takes our final total to 80, so second in Knight Division 4 and while this might imply promotion to Knight Division 3 I suspect that a top to bottom re-draw of the leagues will be necessary to redistribute the teams evenly, so I suspect we will be in Division 4 again next year...
