Our 2016 running season is now at an end with trains running all day Saturday and fireworks trains to The Dam in the evening on the 5th November. The railway will then close over the winter period for some major construction work; we will post updates of our progress whenever we can so please keep checking back and also check our website for updates. As soon as we can confirm our 2017 timetable and running days we will post them. Many thanks to all our customers who visited during 2016 and we look forward to welcoming everyone back at the new and improved Leek and Rudyard Railway in 2017.

Today, this weekend and Monday mark our last full service of the year before our final trains for the fireworks at the lake on November the 5th (not forgetting our special Halloween Trains on Saturday-Sunday-Monday). This will be your last chance to come and see the railway in its current configuration before we close until next year for some major works which include replacement of the engine shed, removal of the containers and extensive track remodelling around the yard. So if you want to capture some history before the big change, come down and see us and wish our old shed goodbye! Platform 2 cafe open throughout our running with our usual freshly made hot and cold snacks and drinks. As we are midway through our half term running week here is an update on our upcoming Halloween Specials. Our Halloween Specials will run at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (29, 30 and 31). These special trains are available without booking and at our normal fares. Platform 2 Cafe will also be open during these extended times. It will be great fun for both children and adults of all ages and there will be surprises in store if you dare to ride our spooky trains!

This weekend marks the start of our half term running with trains every day from the 22nd of October to the 31st. The last 3 days will include our evening Halloween services which we will post details on during next week. For this weekend and during the week its our usual service from 11am to 4pm with Platform 2 Cafe open to provide hot and cold drinks and snacks. Come down and see us anytime as this will be our full last operating week of 2016.

Our theme of Autumn running continues with this driver's eye view from Frances of the line this time of year. Our Saturday / Sunday running continues throughout October, including daily running during Half Term and Halloween. Platform 2 Cafe also open every running day for hot and cold drinks and snacks.

We are now back to weekend running only during the wonderful Autumn season, so why not come and see us as the Lake and Railway look spectacular during this time. Trains on the hour 11am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday with Platform 2 Cafe open both days. We will publish our Halloween running times shortly so keep an eye on both our Facebook and Webpages.

Our three day running continues with trains today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday. Over the weekend its our "Top and Tail" event with King Arthur on top and one of our other resident engines on tail. This unusual running should give everyone great photo opportunities not often seen at the railway. Platform 2 Cafe also open all running weekend, and trains will depart hourly from 11am to 4pm, on the hour.

Our 3 day running (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) running continues to the end of September which gives you plenty of chances to visit us during the late Summer and early Autumn period. The Railway and The Lake have a completely different feel during this time which has to be seen to be really appreciated. Platform 2 Cafe remains open as well so you can sit down and enjoy the further improvements we have made with new station signs and information boards giving you the history of the railway.

Its our annual Steam Gala this weekend, our main event of the year and a definite highlight. Trains every 15 mins (freight and passenger), a variety of motive power, multiple-headers and visiting engines as well. Platform 2 Cafe is open for the full event should the wonderful sunshine last or the rains return. And don't forget you can also watch on our new live webcam! (though we recommend visiting in person for all the sounds and smells).
