Refugee Crisis Hits People with Intellectual Disabilities and their Families Hard As part of Inclusion International’s follow-up work on issues facing refugees with intellectual disabilities and their families, we are proud to share a powerful op-ed by our Vice President, Fadia Farah, published today by Open Democracy. The op-ed shares the story of Kawthar’s family who fled Syria three years ago. Her story shows the additional challenges refugee families supporting a person with an intellectual disability must address. We are grateful to Kawthar for sharing her story and to Human Rights Watch for their support in getting this important story out there.
