Aald Harbour Tearoom in the heart of Lerwick’s old town will offer you an exciting afternoon tea experience.


So a little bit about our new venture:

A new tea room in the heart of Lerwick’s old town will open on Saturday 22nd April, offering an exciting afternoon tea experience. At present the tearoom will be open on Friday and Saturdays afternoons only, with more days planned in the summer months. At the Aald Harbour Tea Room in Church Road everything will be done in the best tradition, with fine china, linen tablecloths and the highest quality homemade food.

This is a joint venture by Lynette Smith and Joanne Holden. Lynette and her husband George own and run the Aald Harbour B&B. The tea room, Lynette said, will be “that extra special something to offer my guests and the public.”

Joanne has always wanted to have a tea room and will use her baking skills to ensure visitors are in for a treat. She is passionate about using local produce and this will shine through in her creations.

Customers will be presented with their afternoon tea on beautiful, silver, three-tier stands. A varying and delicious selection of sandwiches such as roast pepper and cream cheese or brie and grape will tempt you to the bottom tier.

Scones and pancakes, mini quiches and canapés can be enjoyed from the middle tier, and a host of sweet sensations including truffles, mini macarons, cakes, meringues, tartlets and sundaes from the top tier will finish off your tea in style.

Afternoon tea, comprising all of the above and unlimited tea and filtered coffee, will cost £15 per person and promises you an afternoon tea experience that you won’t forget.

A specially designed take home box is also available if you cannot manage to eat all of your delectable treats.

The tea room will also be offering tables for events and can apply for an occasional alcohol licence for these special occasions. Themed events are planned such as a Father’s Day special with mini ploughman’s, and a Christmas special with snowball truffles, mini Christmas cakes and mulled wine.
