I'm sure most of you will have seen that the restaurant is now closed. It's very sad for all concerned and is not the way Mario and I intended to retire. We were in the process of selling the restaurant but negotiations which should have taken a few weeks turned into a six month delay by the prospective purchasers. That lead to financial consequences for us and we were forced to close the business. We have had some very good times and met some lovely people over the years. We are very grateful for the loyalty so many of our regular customers have shown us, and for the many thanks and good wishes we have received over the past few weeks. We have been very fortunate to have had some wonderful staff over the years and we are very grateful for their loyalty and hard work. It is the end of an era for us and we are looking forward to our retirement. The restaurant will be sold eventually and hopefully the new owners will enjoy the support and loyalty we enjoyed from the local community. Thank you everyone. I feel I need to let everyone know that the disruption advised by Yorkshire Water has come to nothing! There is no problem with access and parking on Town Street. We have passed on written and verbal notices from Y.W. to customers warning of road closures, no parking and disruption to water supplies which were due to take place for two weeks from 27th February. The two week road closure notice went up but was removed before the end of the first week. There were no road closures, no suspension of on street parking and no signs of roads being dug up! I have made calls today to Y.W. and Morrisons Utility Services only to discover the work was completed last week with no disruption. Would have been nice to have been informed so that I could have passed the news on to regular customers who have stayed away because of access problems. So we look forward to resuming normal levels of business and seeing you all at the restaurant...
