We are a shop in Farsley selling everything to do with knitting, crochet and quilting, we run classes too! The Skep was a mill shop selling fabrics from Reuben Gaunts Mill and has been in existence for over 30 years. It has evolved into a shop selling knitting yarns from the most luxurious to the cheaper but still excellent quality products and the best quality patchworking / dressmaking cottons from the USA. We have up to 1000 fabrics at any one time and many, many yarns. Mindful of the fact that everyone loves a bargain and there is always a bargain to be found here! We sell patterns, books, magazines and accessories for all your quilting, knitting and crochet needs and we also have classes. These are taught by the best teachers who are hugely experienced, published authors and the top of their field.

Good morning beginners quilters. I've just arrived at the shop. Theres a lot more snow here than there is at home (Otley) I came via Menston and the roads are not the best. We still have two hours before we need to start. I'll leave it up to you guys. If you want to come I'm here, if you dont want to risk it I completely understand. If this wasn't our last class I probably wouldn't have risked it. I almost got stuck at the bottom of Bagley Lane too. We cant reschedule the class now as I only have this week but if any of you want to come to the sit and sew days we can have an impromptu class at any of those where I'll get you all finished. Please let me know what you want to do - I dont want to stay if nobody is coming.
Holy cow I've got a lot of quilts. I need to trim the herd so here goes. Jack and Sally with some appliqué pictures round the edge. This one is 57 inches by 63, backed in orange velboa (gorgeous fur). £30. Let me know if you want it, you can pick it up tomorrow as I'm here with a class or in the week, wed to sat 10 - 4.
Woohoo! No snow here in Farsley. Shop is open today! We have some samples for sale at £5, huge bargains, Debbie Bliss garments, blankets, Louisa Harding shrug, quilts, cushions, fabric books, all sorts. Some of the yarns are reduced even further and we have some 50p and £1 bargain bins too. Its our last week now so everything non fabric must go! Including the shelving, which is free!
I have loads of these Billy bookcases that were used in the shop for display. They are free, do come and help yourselves. Some are available now, more will be available when we close. They are used of course and some have a couple of extra holes drilled in them but they would make great storage for your shed or garage. Let me know if you want some, do email me before you come just in case I'm not at the shop (weather etc)
Not to panic just yet - it might all change in the coming hours but I'm sure you've all seen the weather forecast for the weekend. Please keep an eye out here for news on if we're open tomorrow and also for the Beginners Quilt Class on Sunday. I'll keep you posted girls and if we have to cancel we will make other arrangements so you can all get your quilts finished.
I have number of display / shop fitting items available at bargain prices in our last couple of weeks here in the shop. I'd be most grateful if you could share to help me clear the shop. Lewis and Irene's Spindrift has arrived, delayed by the snow but no less lovely for it. Puffins, whales, dolphins and the like, absolutely gorgeous. Its £13 a metre, £3.25 a fat quarter. We have some 15 fat quarter bundles (which is one of each of the designs in the range) with a free fat quarter included for £45.50 too.

Well folks its another snow day for The Skep. I cant get there in this lot so we'll have to stay closed today. Apologies for any inconvenience, hopefully it will all be gone very soon!

Beginners Quilt Class is on! Hooray, I'm here, all the heating is on, the roads are not bad at all this morning, side roads a little slippy so do be careful but the main roads from Otley, through Menston and to Farsley were fine. Its raining just now. See you soon ladies!
