Saturday Draw
Just a reminder that entry forms for the Fisher, Fourball and Quaich are available in the clubhouse. Entries required to be in by Sunday 16th April. We also have a Masters scramble this Sunday (9th April) with a 9am shotgun start. This is an open scramble and it would be great if we could get some more teams entered before Sunday. Again, sheet is up on the noticeboard. Regards Committee
Sheet is now up for The Masters scramble next Sunday. Shot gun 9am tee off, open to visitors. £20 per team.
For Clarity, the April Medal will be played tomorrow as a running draw. All members please note, no play out with the competition is permitted on the course whilst the competition is being played (between 7am and 3pm). The committee thank you in advance for your co-operation on this.
Due to the continuing poor weather the decision has been taken to cancel tomorrow's competition. Should the course be playable later on in the morning or afternoon, bounce games are permitted to be played.
March medal / new tees ( disgrace ) I found out today that one or more members thought that running the competition on Saturday and playing from some of the new tees was a disgrace. I find these comments to be very harsh. My self and the committee feel that the march medal is the start of the golfing calendar. Meaning the golf course should be back fully in play and should give members the competitions in march to get them selves ready for April counters. The weather leading up to Saturday was however very wet meaning the course was very wet. However I don't believe that the course was totally unplayable and that a competition could not have been played and that course should have been closed. As I have said before , foot traffic on our course especially at this time of year is very minimal meaning it's not going to be heavily trampled. Yes the greens were wet but nothing heavier than seen before even in summer months. The tees I know are not 100% ready but as it's the start of the season I thought it would be a good gesture to put the par 4s and 5s on at the edges of the tees to give members some of the course back and to hopefully enjoy their game and entice some more guys up to play. My self or the committee don't claim to be right on all things we do for the club but we try our best for our club. I hope this explains the reasoning behind Saturdays competition.
