Warburtons Farms
Description
The Warburton Family run a mixed/arable farm of approx 1200 acres (Growing wheat, barley, potatoes, oilseed rape, and beef cattle), in the heart of Cheshire involving seven family members, covering three generations. We have a small seasonal farm shop, selling home-grown potatoes and eggs from May - Oct. The Farm is open to Educational Access through HLS, hosting school visits, including a number of special schools in the area. Our approach to farming is very closely integrated with the care of the natural environment. Depmore Farm and Hatley Farm are two farms run as one holding by the Warburton Family (Fourth Generation). Graham and Geoffrey Warburton, their wives Liz and Gill and their sons Richard and George, run the holding as partners trading as T.L. Warburton & Co (Thomas Lionel Warburton was their late father). We specialise in early potatoes. We have approx. 130 head of beef cattle. Being a mixed farm we feel it is important that the beef and arable enterprises are totally integrated. Our own barley provides feed and straw for the cattle, which subsequently provide manure for the crops.
The farm has two Sites of Biological Importance (SBIs). There is a wide range of wildlife, ponds, and bird habitat.

The Bees have been very busy this year on our Oil Seed Rape fields. Our Bee Keepers have reported a good year.

We found this little birds nest today. Hidden inside the locking mechanism of a storage container on the farm. (Luckily it's not used very often)!!
