Last week Dance North hosted Space in September, a light touch residency /retreat, with eight dance artists from Moray, Highlands, Shetland, and Germany and USA, thanks to a well-timed hiking holiday. After morning chats over coffee and pastries, there were opportunities for shared outdoor practice and focussed conversations about everything from; taking care of ourselves, the desire for support without organisational agendas, working with youth groups and how to maintain a movement practice during a pandemic. There’s merit in creating a little space for artists just to meet as artists, without demands or expectations. It is also valuable for us at Dance North, giving a pressure-free opportunity to hear directly from artists about their current concerns, questions and needs - they are also pretty cool to hang out with. #LoveDanceScotland #Moray #space Here's a few of us spotting basking sharks in the Moray Firth.

We were delighted this weekend to welcome Lindsay Dunbar as the facilitator of our first Mycelium Open Session, which brought together nearly 30 individuals from 5 countries. Considering examples from nature (i.e. how a ginger root can be snapped off but start growing again or how starlings flock in murmurations to find safety in numbers), the session offered an opportunity to consider how rhizome theory could be applied to network development, what we are planning for and how we can exchange knowledge and collaborate meaningfully anymore.

Job Opportunity: Communications Officer - Parents and Carers in Performing Arts
Parents and Carers in Performing Arts is recruiting a Communications Officer. This is a great opportunity at a growing organisation, with high levels of responsibility for someone with a deeply embedded sense of equality and inclusion, looking for a permanent, flexible, part-time, home working role. If you are passionate about making a difference and can produce engaging online content and build a following then they want to hear from you. Deadline: 9 am 15 Sep https://bit.ly/3hlJBCG
The first class is always free for first-time participants of the Dance North Youth programme. If you would like to have a go send a message. #LoveDanceScotland #Elgin #Forres #Fochabers #contemporary #dance
