Street Child Africa
Description
A childhood shouldn’t be spent on the streets, it should be spent in school and a nurturing, safe environment. Working with Chance for Childhood. Street Child Africa supports street-connected children by funding prevention work, outreach programmes, centres, education and family reintegration services.
The children we support are courageous, resilient and resourceful. Their potential is our inspiration because we know them and we know their stories. We know what brought them to the streets, what challenges they face but also their aspirations.
Understanding their experiences helps us to design programmes with our partners that respond to their needs and help them to prepare for their adult lives.
Street Child Africa is a charity registered in England (charity reg. no. 1074832), a charity registered in Scotland (charity reg. no. SC039248), and a company registered in England and limited by guarantee (company reg. no. 3597252).

Katie's Blog
"Children on the street are there because of abject poverty, the worst kind of poverty; the kind that leads a child to leave his or her home in search of food, the kind that causes mothers to send their children away because she cannot afford to feed them, the kind that forces entire families into the streets because they have nowhere else to go."
