We are holding recruitment days to recruit a number of Refuse Drivers and Driver/Senior Crew roles to work in our commercial and domestic waste teams. We are offering full time, fixed-term and casual contracts with an immediate start. Drivers: Refuse drivers in domestic waste will primarily be driving 26 tonne refuse collection vehicles, emptying kerbside household waste, recycling and garden waste bins. The role will involve working in a team environment, on a set route, and be public facing. Refuse drivers in commercial waste will driver a spectrum of vehicles including 26 tonne refuse collection vehicles, Skip lorries, Roll on Roll off vehicles and Front End Loader. As a driver you may be working as part of a team or on your own. Driver/Senior Crew: The Senior Crew Role is the lead individual in a collection crew and responsible for ensuring relevant paperwork and record keeping is complete, including use of mobile technology, and ensuring daily targets are achieved. For the role you must be physically fit and able to work long distances. In this position you will be expected to work in either the driver or senior crew role, dependent on the service needs. Domestic Waste: The hours of work are 40 hours per week which includes 3 hours contractual overtime (paid at time and a half) to cover driver duties. Working hours are between 06:30 and 17:00 Tuesday to Friday. Commercial Waste: Commercial Waste operate shift patterns. Hours of work may be between 06:30 and 20:00 Monday to Friday. Contractual overtime is applicable to hours allocated to vehicle inspections. You should have: • A Class C LGV and relevant CPC driver licence • Good communication skills • A knowledge of Health and Safety You should be able to work under your own initiative or in a team environment, be flexible and reliable and have the ability to work effectively in pressured situations.
