Glos Counselling offers expert assessments and interventions to help you overcome life's challenges. Glos Counselling was founded by Dr Nicola Coddington.
Nicola is a registered Chartered Clinical Psychologist working for the NHS and private practice in the Cheltenham and Gloucestershire Area. She uses an individualised formulation approach considering the psychological, developmental, social and biological aspects to understand people's experiences. She strives to develop respectful, therapeutic relationships with clients, based on empathy and genuineness, using a professional, non judgemental approach. Nicola aims to work collaboratively with clients to provide confidential assessments and interventions using evidenced based approaches.
Nicola offers assessments and interventions for adults, couples, families, children and adolescents. She can help you if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, panic problems, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, relational difficulties, divorce, problems related to anger, work related stress, abuse, trauma, bereavement and fertility issues. Nicola also offers support for adults and children who have been fostered, adopted or have unknown parentage.
Nicola offers specialist assessments to adults and children with neuro developmental disorders such as autistic spectrum conditions. In addition, Nicola offers intellectual assessments to identify cognitive functioning, learning disability and intellectual giftedness. She has a keen interest in sport psychology and offers a clinical psychological approach to athletes to help them identify/understand psychological barriers to their training and performance. In addition Nicola can offer detailed personality assessments that can be used in corporate establishments to inform recruitment and development of personnel.
Nicola has been trained in a number of psychological approaches, these include, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Psychodynamic approaches, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and solution focused work. Nicola's preference is to tailor therapy for the individual and blend the psychological approaches where appropriate.
