Castleford Air Cadets is located next to the Civic Centre in the town and is a large squadron of around 35 cadets as well as various staff members. The Air Training Corps "Air Cadets" provides many young people with the opportunity to do many exciting activities that otherwise they would never have the chance to do. Some of these include flying, gliding, shooting, adventure training, sports and many other diverse activities. Also as a cadet within the Air Training Corps you will have the chance to develop many skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, communication, self-confidence and many other personal developments.

On Friday our Cadets took part in an evening learning about issue ration packs. They looked at how they had developed from early versions from the World War 2 era through to the current type. They also took part in a ready steady cook challenge using only a 24 hour ration pack. Want to come and join in the fun? We are recruiting on the 9th Sept for those going into Year 8. Last week our cadets went to RAF St Mawgen for summer camp. While there they got see see various sections of the station and undertake many activities including surfing! We are recruiting from the 9th Sep for those in years 8 to 11. PM the page or email oc.2388@aircadets.org
This week saw another success at 2388 squadron as Acting Sergeant RAF AC David Billany completed his Staff Senior NCO Initial Course at RAF College Cranwell and was appointed as a full Sergeant. Sgt Billany's journey began almost a year ago when he returned to Castleford, where he had served as a cadet and Civilian Instructor. In January he was appointed as an Acting Sergeant, pending on the outcome of this course. All of the squadron staff and cadets are incredibly proud of you sergeant, well done!
