The Art Hound Gallery
Description
We are a vibrant gallery specialising in Modern British and Contemporary Art. www.thearthoundlondon.com
The Art Hound Gallery is based in the idyllic setting of Burwash Manor just outside Cambridge City centre.
We carefully source and sell pieces by some of the greatest 20th century and contemporary artists. We enjoy showing our clients that great art by the luminaries of the 20th and 21st centuries can be genuinely affordable. Alongside the works of our internationally recognised artists such as Sir Peter Blake, Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Tracy Emin and Damian Hirst we also source pieces by some of the most talented and promising emerging artists from London and around the country to showcase their works alongside the greats.
As well as fine art we also sell bespoke jewellery at a range of prices from the countries leading designers, such as Sarah Herriot whose architectural British Hallmarked Silver designs are known for their simplicity of form, weight and natural elegance, and Louise O'Neill's 18ct white, yellow and red gold pieces with clear and cognac diamonds known for their sensitive implementation of a carefully considered colour palette.
Our aim is to create an inclusive open and welcoming atmosphere for anyone who comes through the door.

facebook.comWet January Monday means we are spending today mounting new works for display - Here's just a few new to the gallery floor by Kate Boxer, Shepard Fairey (the AWESOME John Lydon screen print - must have for all Public Image Limited fans!), Emily Crookshank and Chris Bourke. Remember what we have on the gallery floor is just a small selection of our stock - don't be afraid to ask us to show you what else we have to match your favourite style. You can find most of our work on our website - but we have so much coming and going! #CambridgeGallery #BurwashManor #CambridgeArt
The sweetest little tree is currently on the wall - by top American 20th Century artist Alexander Calder. Known for his amazing mobiles (which he pretty much invented) and moving sculptural installations, his work is often seen as a lynchpin between surrealism, abstraction and Pop Art. This lithograph is from 1971 and made by the master of lithographs - the Mourlot Studio in Paris, who Calder worked with on a series of lithographs.
Meet The Art Hound team! We thought it might be nice for you all to see the faces behind the gallery, so here we are.. From left, Francesca the Gallery Manager, Charlotte our Artist, Natasha is our Art Buyer, and Tom is the Director, and of course Mick, the hound who gave the gallery its name! One of us will always be at the gallery, everyday of the week from 10am-5pm, and we all love to chat about art, and help our clients find the perfect new piece!
Now that the Christmas season is over, it is time to get all of those lovely artworks you were give over the holidays framed, and where else to go than to us at The Art Hound! We offer a bespoke framing service, and will frame any of your works, whether or not they came from us! Here are some examples of the awesome frames we've created in the last few weeks for clients and the gallery! Although any work will look fantastic in one of our beautifully made, solid oak black or white box frames, there are also so many other options. These pictures just demonstrate how a colour matched mount, metallic or glitter frame, or float mounted design can elevate your art! We love helping you decide the perfect fit for each individual piece, and we promise the results are always awesome! Email us dimensions and spec to enquiries@thearthoundgallery.com, or pop in and see us, and we can give you an evaluation and price estimate!
Whilst we love hunting out new, fresh and upcoming artists, it's always wonderful when we acquire some new works by the Master Artists of the 20th Century. These two pieces, 'La Negresse' by Matisse, and 'Torero' by Picasso are now out on display and ready to be snapped up by a lucky collector! Both of these works are lithographs on beautifully wove paper, printed by the formidable Mourlot Freres in Paris! The perfect pieces to kick-start a collection, gift to the art lover, or treat for yourself! We will be open all week, rain or shine, and Francesca the Gallery Manager is at the gallery ready to answer all of your questions, and help you find the perfect piece!
It's proper snowing here at the gallery! As you've wisely stayed at home today - 1. Shop online at our website instead 2. Allow us to play Ghost really loudly in the gallery because you are not here to complain about it ;)
In the Gallery today we're beating the January blues playing Iggy Pop and admiring our new record inspired Limited Edition screenprints by the hottest Urban Artist in the world right now: Shepard Fairey. These tasty new works are for sale in the Gallery and on our website, doubt we'll have them for long though! Check out this interview link with the two of them talking copyright, corporations and creative expression. https://www.interviewmagazine.com/art/shepard-fairey
Delighted to announce our new contemporary artist - Lauren Baker. We've coined the idea that she is the love child of Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin, conceived in 1960s psychedelia, fuelled by ancient spirituality and animal rights. If that gets your attention - and it should! - her works are flying out the gallery. We have a great selection - experimental papers with glosses, silkscreens, glow in the dark ink and variety of glitters and diamond dusts. They have to be seen in the flesh - but if you can't get to the gallery for now, they are up on the website. https://thearthoundgallery.com/search?q=lauren+baker
Who's your Rock n' Roll Icon? Following on from Shepard Fairey's Little Richard, we have also on the gallery wall - Pure Evil's 'Elvis 1st Photo'. This awesome screen print features a hand spray painted eye drip - the iconic feature of Pure Evil's Work with custom hand sprayed neon pink mount and white frame. Elvis is the undisputed King (we are the sort of folk who have Elvis at our wedding - true!), but there is only one god of f*ck - and he has been seen sporting the same eye drip on his first tour dates in the U.S this month... Coincidence?
Just up today in the Gallery are these rockin' new screen prints by urban art behemoth and master of some of the greatest band artwork ever: Shepard Fairey, in bespoke gold and black oak frames.
