THIEVES have stolen eight car batteries from a driveway in Shildon. The batteries were taken from the outside of an address in Sunnydale, Shildon between 11am and 1pm on January 2. PC Katharine Wright, from Durham Constabulary, said: “We are encouraging anyone who saw any suspicious activity or has any information to get in contact with us by calling 101 quoting reference number 215 of January 2.”

*** NOTICE OF APPRECIATION *** Officers would like to send out thanks to 2 males who were driving a Blue 4X4, reg: WN67 PUH this morning on DURHAM ROAD, BISHOP AUCKLAND. These 2 males assisted members of the public who were finding the road conditions extremely challenging during the heavy snowfall this morning. Their actions meant that other members of the public were able to continue their journey safely and may have helped prevent what could have resulted in several accidents. Thank you very much!

Deputy Chief Constable Jo Farrell CCO Callan and Durham Police Cadets have been into Redworth House Care home tonight delivering presents to all residents as part of the Durham Constabulary Give a Gift campaign. We loved singing with the residents and seeing their lovely smiles! We would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!
